LPD Teams with Alternatives to Domestic Violence

Lyndhurst Police Department and Alternatives to Domestic Violence, Shelter our Sisters, are pleased to announce a collaborative project designed to increase the safety and decrease the isolation of Domestic Violence victims who live and work in the township of Lyndhurst. The Lyndhurst Police Department has recruited volunteers from the Township of Lyndhurst who formed a Crisis Response Team two years ago, being one of the original towns to voluntarily join the County of Bergen in an effort to educate and inform the Victims of Domestic Violence of their rights.

This service is designed to allow the Victims of Domestic Violence to speak to a specially trained citizen volunteer who provides personal and confidential support.

Services Provided by Crisis Response Team

Crisis Response Team members assist victims of Domestic Violence by:
Explaining Domestic Violence Laws and their components and the dynamics of Domestic Violence.

Identifying available social services to assist victims of Domestic Violence.

Referral to the services offered by Alternative to Domestic Violence, Shelter our Sisters.

Assistance in seeking access to protective shelter, when indicated.

Emotional Support to the victims immediately following an act of Violence.

Safety Planning assisting the victim with a safety plan.
