| Crime Prevention
Crime can happen anywhere, any time to anyone.
You and your loved ones in the family can be victims of crime
too. But you can minimize the risk of being victims by adopting
simple crime prevention measures in enhancing security. Preventing
crime is a primary responsibility of the Police, but success in
crime prevention also depends on public support and participation.
Crime prevention is NOT a sole responsibility of the Police. Crime
prevention is EVERYBODY’S RESPONSIBILITY. You need to look
after yourself and your valuables. The Police are fully aware
that without public support and participation, the Police cannot
effectively fight crime. The Police therefore introduce and promote
crime prevention with the aim to persuade the community to practice
crime prevention measures to protect themselves and their belongings.
The Police also seek to promote and strengthen Police rapport
with the population to encourage public involvement in crime prevention.
The Lyndhurst Police Crime Prevention Unit has numerous
community outreach programs:
•
Neighborhood Watch
• Business Watch
• Home Security Surveys
• Child ID Program
• Bicycle Rodeos
• Identity Theft
• Personal Safety
• Child Safety Seats
• Vacation Notifications
• Fatal Vision (Teen DUI Awareness)
